Gap Year People and University Students

Students thinking about traveling independently come and get involved

Why get involved with TRUST?

We are constantly bombarded by negative images and articles about the world in which we live, but the world can be a positive place and being in a place is very different to reading about it or watching it on the television. You can go and make a difference to someone’s life, you can do something for the world.
By involving yourself in our projects you can contribute to a community, immerse yourself within their culture and experience the real India above and beyond the standard 'tourist perspective' many people know.

For all those Students who aren't sure which direction to take next, you can use these experiences as a time to reflect. Different surroundings can change our outlook on the world but most importantly it changes our perception of ourselves. The people we meet and the experiences we encounter being so utterly dissimilar to what we know can help shape us.

They can help us discover who we really are, the things we are capable of and the person we can become.

Volunteer work is an education unto itself. Maybe not academic one, but the world can be your classroom and traveling can show you many things no school or teacher will ever be able to teach.

It cultivates qualities such as organization, independence, resourcefulness as well as an understanding of cultural perspectives and the diversity of values the world has to offer.

As far as CV's or personal statements it’s not just a waste of time. Being involved with our projects shows any prospective employee that you are capable of raising capital as well as organizing and implementing a project. It demonstrates perseverance and ability and adds another feather to your cap.

As well as working on projects we offer people the opportunity of the following possible placements:

  • Teaching English
  • Medical placements
  • Placements in Alternative medicine (Ayurvada etc.)
  • Newspapers
  • Broadcasting centers
  • Veterinary colleges
  • Agricultural colleges
  • Trust Childrens Home

We’re bombarded by charities doing admirable things every day and although I don’t want to put our cause over or above any other, this is a chance for you to be involved directly.

Rather than just sending money of to a huge organization, here is a chance for you to raise funds, instigate, organize, oversee and complete a project (for a full list of potential projects click here) with the help of someone who is experienced. You will be right there as the project unfolds in front of your very eyes:

If you decide to help the orphanage. You’ll know the orphans your helping. You’ll know the situation they’re in intimately, their names their likes dislikes and the things that make them laugh. And as you provide shelter, food and education you’ll watch them grow and flower. If you decide to help build wells. You’ll know why. You’ll see the brown murky water that holds parasites people regularly die from. You’ll smell the excrement filling their only well which often runs out and you’ll see the heaps of rubbish ‘forward communities’ throw into it out of spite. And then once you’ve done something, you’ll see the smiles and shiny eyes when you give them something better. If you decide to be part of an agricultural project you’ll see the community members starting to better themselves. You can come back and see what they have grown. You’ll see them earning enough to educate their children and become something more.
